Did you know Nebraska has a quantum research collaboration? (EQUATE is the project, funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation!) One of EQUATE’s scientists is leading a VIRTUAL camp that will introduce high school students to quantum topics. You’ll learn fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics including quantum superposition and quantum entanglement, then move on to quantum information science. The camp will cover algorithms for quantum computing and quantum teleportation, then the group will enter IBM’s Qiskit platform for hands-on activities to write codes and run quantum programs.

From its humble beginnings as a "normal school" in 1903, University of Nebraska - Kearney has grown to become the school we now know. This camp is hosted by Dr. Aleksander Wysocki, Assistant Professor in the Physics, Astronomy, and Engineering department. Dr. Wysocki completed his undergraduate studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland and has obtained his PhD degree in Physics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Wysocki’s research interests are in the area of computational materials science, sustainable energy, and quantum information technologies.
