STEM Adventures 

for blind and visually impaired students

Camp Name

Students will learn about science and nature from soils to plants and insects to mammals by collecting and analyzing real data for a large prairie restoration project. The camp includes both laboratory and field components, giving students a well-rounded STEM experience.

Camp Dates



  • Experience working in a laboratory to design and implement experiments.
  • Learn about biodiversity and prairie restoration
  • Explore the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center.


  • Perform surveys of bird, amphibian, and insect populations in a restored tall grass prairie.
  • Learn to sample and classify soils by feel.
  • Learn how to analyze data to help you understand the success of prairie restoration activities.

Who's Eligible?

Open to blind and visually impaired students entering 6th through 8th grades.


Space is limited to 20 campers.

Supervision and Safety

Minimum of 1:2 teacher/counselor to student ratio. Certified faculty/teachers and experienced, trained undergraduates students/counselors.
