Prairie Plains Resource Institute; Gjerloff Prairie, Marquette, NE

Gjerloff Prairie is considered to be one of the best loess hills prairies in central Nebraska, the Gjerloff Prairie preserve offers many opportunities for people of all ages and levels of interest. The land has open vistas, intimate small valleys and draws, steep cliffs, ravines and 0.6 mile of Platte River frontage. The Prairie Plains Resource Institute is located Highway 14 to Marquette corner, 4 miles west, 0.5 mile north.
This camp will be led by Dr. Greg Pec, Assistant Professor in Biology and Dr. Julie Shaffer, Professor in Biology both at University of Nebraska at Kearney. Campers will enjoy hiking, learning about the ecosystem in which they live and how to care for, protect and restore it. Camp activities are intended to open new doors for students interested in the natural world and finding new ways to enjoy the outdoors.
Students will experience non traditional camping and participate in activities in the Prairie Plains Education Center.

Campers will be sleeping in provided tents. Other amenities are available in the Education Center.
Open to students entering 6th through 8th grades.
Camp fee is $60. Financial scholarships are available!
Space is limited to 10 campers
Campers check in on Wednesday 9-11 am (CST). Campers check-out Friday between 4-6 pm (CST).
