The Young Nebraska Scientists program offers summer science camps at Nebraska college and university campuses for middle and high school students, and paid summer research experiences for high school students. Activities are designed to inspire, excite, and reinforce confidence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The original funding for Young Nebraska Scientists (YNS) was provided by Nebraska EPSCoR's $9 million Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) grantfrom the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2004. Continued funding for YNS is now provided by the latest Nebraska EPSCoR RII Track 1 grant, which began in October 2010.
