Frequently asked questions about attending camp

How does commuting work?

Commuters will be provided a schedule prior to the start of camp. Daily check-in is by 8am and campers are ready for pick up by 6pm. Commuters may attend selected evening extracurricular activities, communicated prior to the start of camp.

My student has some health issues requiring medications or activity modifications. Can my student attend a YNS camp?

YNS strives to work with families on an individual basis to help enable all students to attend and enjoy a YNS camp. Please contact the NE EPSCoR Outreach Coordinator to discuss your situation and concerns.

When and how do I pay for camp?

Camp deposits and fees are due in May and June. Dates are announced in the letter you receive confirming your student's selection into camp. Checks and money orders are the only accepted forms of payment.

What does my student need to bring to camp?

Campers will participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. A complete list of necessary items is provided in the camp information packets YNS sends in May.

What is the daily schedule?

Campers participate in academic activities from 9am to 5pm, and have scheduled extracurricular activities in the evenings after dinner. See individual camp descriptions for specifics. A complete schedule is provided at check-in.

What is your cell phone policy?

Campers may bring cell phones, but turn them in with lead dorm counselor at check-in. Cell phones are returned to campers in the evenings for calling home. See the electronics policy in the camp information packets YNS sends in May.
